Why we run the companies we start.

Most studios build to hand over. We build to keep, and it changes every decision along the way.

A venture studio can mean more than one job. Some teams start a company, prove a slice of it, and pass it on. The work is the beginning. The reward is the handoff.

That is a coherent model. It is not ours.

We start companies and stay behind them. We find a need, build the product, and run the business. The third part is the point. We are not assembling a company to hand over in eighteen months. We start it because we intend to operate it.

Handing a company over is a different job.

When the plan is a handoff, choices lean toward something easy to transfer. The story has to make sense to someone who was not in the room. Costs that return later are easy to postpone, because later may belong to someone else.

When the plan is to keep the company, those choices turn around. A name has to last. A customer you disappoint is still your customer next season. A shortcut in the product becomes work you answer yourself. We take the slower decision when it is the one we can live with.

This is why we say we build to keep. It is the constraint in front of the work, not a line added after it.

We ask if we would run it.

The first decision is whether we would run the company. Not whether it would look tidy in a list of startups, and not whether someone else would want it later. If we cannot picture the ordinary week — the customers, the product, the work of keeping it honest — we do not start.

The filter is narrow on purpose. It is why the companies do not sit in one industry. Qadrillion is software testing: managed test coverage, an AI agent product, and training in AI-driven testing. Reflct is a daily mood diary on iOS and Android. Fungyu grows medicinal mushrooms and sells them direct. The markets do not match. The question in front of each one did: is this a company we will still be running when the launch is no longer the news?

Those companies are the public record of the filter. They are listed on Ventures.

Keeping changes the product.

We ship something small enough to launch and real enough to charge for. Then we stay. A first paying customer teaches more than a plan, and we are the people who have to act on what they teach. A feature that exists to decorate a pitch does not survive the week someone depends on the product.

Running also changes what finished means. Finished is not a launch note. Finished is a release you can support, a test you trust, an order that arrives as described. The ordinary middle is most of the company. We plan for that middle at the start, because we are the ones who will be in it.

Keeping changes the name.

Each company gets its own name, brand, and market. It should stand without the studio in front of it. Adriato stays behind the company, which only works if the company can speak for itself. A person using Reflct does not need a lecture on venture studios. Someone buying from Fungyu needs the product to be what the page says it is. A team working with Qadrillion needs the testing to hold.

Each company is not a label under Adriato. It is a company a person can find and come back to. The studio is here if you look for it. It is not the product.

Keeping changes the pace, and who we build with.

There is no prize here for announcing a company we are not prepared to operate. We would rather be early and exact than loud. Months for finding and building. Years for running. That shape is the same for our own companies and for partner builds.

Own ventures come first. When there is room, we build with a partner the same way we build our own: the same team, the same way of working, your market. We do not take a brief we would not want to run, and we do not treat a short engagement as a company. How we work together is set case by case. The standard does not move.

The longer account is on How we build.

What we will not pretend.

We will not call this an investment fund. We are not funding other people’s companies and stepping back. That may be a later stage. It is not this one.

We will not start a company in order to have a story. Software, a consumer app, and a product you can hold in your hand are enough to show the pattern. They are not a claim that every market is ours. The method is shared. The competence has to be real in the market, or we do not belong there.

We will not invent a finish line. Running does not mean a perpetual draft, and it does not mean we never change our minds. It means the default is to stay. If a company should stop, it stops because the work no longer earns its place, not because a calendar said the studio was done.

If you came from one of the companies.

If you met a venture and looked upstream, this is the studio behind it. We start companies and stay behind them.

If you want to build a company with us, write to us. We will say plainly whether there is room, and whether it is a company we would run.

A venture studio. We build to keep.
